zdoom.exe

DOOM2.WAD

tnt.wad

plutonia.wad

ReadMe!!!!.txt

How To Use:

1. Extract all the contents into a folder.

2. A file will automatically be created, entitled zdoom-"usernamehere" DO NOT DELETE, as this is needed. It tells zdoom what WADs you have, and any configurations you have set in the game.

3. Run zdoom.exe.

4. When zdoom.exe loads, it asks you what WAD you want to load. Choose the one you want to have.

5. Enjoy! You can now play a better campaign, play online, do a Co-OP, what ever the hell you feel like!

Why do you have Zdoom instead of the original source code?:

Consider all these features that ZDoom has that are not found in the standard Doom originally released by id:

- It runs well under all modern versions of Windows, from Windows 95 to the new Windows Vista. If you have Linux, it works with that too.

- Can play all Doom engine games, including Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, Heretic, Hexen, and Strife.

- Supports all the editing features of Hexen. (ACS, hubs, new map format, etc.)

- Supports most of the BOOM editing features.

- Many more all-new editing features such as:

— Colored sector lighting.

— Custom monsters, weapons, and items.

— High resolution textures.

— Many, many extensions to ACS that were not present in Hexen.

— More music formats: Ogg Vorbis, MOD, XM, IT, S3M, MIDI, and MP3 as well as old-fashioned MUS all work.

— More sound formats: FLAC and WAVE can both be used for sound effects.

— More texture formats: PNG and JPEG are both useable for artwork.

- The vast majority of Doom limits are gone.

- An OPL softsynth is provided that can play the standard MUS music for an authentic "oldschool" flavor.

- Free look (look up/down).

- High resolutions.

- Translucency (regular and additive).

- A console.

- Full-featured joystick/gamepad support under Windows.

- Up to 8 player network games using UDP/IP, including team-based gameplay.

- Support for the Bloodbath announcer from the classic Monolith game Blood.

- Quake-style key bindings.

- Jumping.

- Crosshairs.

- Walk over/under monsters and other things.

Wait a second… is this all freeware?

No. The WADs I had to get by buying the game. The only thing that is freeware is zdoom itself.

Game(s) Info:

Doom: Doom is a 1993 computer game by id Software that is a landmark title in the first-person shooter genre, and in first person gaming in general. It is widely recognized for pioneering immersive 3D graphics, networked multiplayer gaming on the PC platform, and support for custom expansions (WADs). Distributed as shareware, Doom was downloaded by an estimated 10 million people within two years, popularizing the mode of gameplay and spawning a gaming subculture; as a sign of its effect on the industry, games from the mid-1990s boom of first-person shooters are often known simply as "Doom clones". Its graphic and interactive violence has also made Doom the subject of much controversy reaching outside the gaming world. According to GameSpy, Doom was voted by industry insiders to be the greatest game of all time in 2004.

Doom II: Immediately following the events in Doom, the player once again takes the role of the nameless space marine who has proven too tough for the forces of Hell to contain. After being teleported from Phobos, and subsequently fighting on Deimos which is hanging on top of Hell itself, the Marine is back home on Earth, only to find that it too has fallen victim to the hellish invasion. The player progresses through 30 levels (32 including two secretly accessed levels), and on the way he learns that the remaining survivors of Earth’s population are being held on Earth and the only means of escape is the space port with massive ships that can carry the remains of Earth’s population into space. However the demons know this and have placed a fire force field over the space port, so that ships cannot land or leave. The marine must battle his way through the infested space port and deactivate that fire force field. Once humanity is finally evacuated from the ravaged, infested planet, the Marine is the only human left on Earth. He sits and waits for death, content in the knowledge that he has saved his species, giving them a chance to continue on elsewhere. Only minutes pass before the Marine receives an off-planet transmission – humans in orbit have managed to find out where the armies of Hell are spilling from. If the Marine can reach this gateway, he can thwart the invasion once and for all.

Final Doom (TNT: Evilution): In TNT: Evilution the UAC once again are intent on developing and experimenting with dimensional gateway technology. They set up a base on Io, one of the moons of Jupiter, with a solid detachment of space marines for protection. The marines do their job well: when the first experimental gateway is opened they annihilate the forces of Hell. Research continues with more confidence and all security measures turned at the gateway. A few months later, the yearly supply ship comes ahead of schedule, and looks strange and unusually big on the radar. The lax radar operators decide that there is nothing to worry about… The personnel of the base go out to behold the terrible truth: it is a spaceship from Hell, built of steel, stone, flesh, bone and corruption. The ship’s enormous gates open to unleash a rain of demons on the base. Quickly, the whole facility is overrun, and everyone is slain or zombified.

Final Doom (The Plutonia Experiment): After Hell’s catastrophic invasion of Earth, the global governments decide to take measures against any possible future invasion, knowing that the powers of Hell still remained strong. The UAC corporation is refounded under completely new management (the old trustees and stockholders were all dead anyway) and aims at developing tools that would prevent demonic invasions. The scientists start working on a device known as the Quantum Accelerator that is intended to close invasion Gates and stop possible invasions. The experiments are carried out in a secret research complex, with a stationed detachment of marines. The work seems to be going well but the creatures from Outside have their attention drawn towards the new research. A Gate opens in the heart of the complex and unnatural horrors pour out. The Quantum Accelerator performs superbly: the Gate is quickly closed and the invasion is stopped. Research continues more boldly. On the next day, a ring of 7 Gates opens and an even greater invasion begins. For 1 hour the Quantum Accelerators manage to close 6 of the Gates… but the Hellish army has become too numerous and too strong. The complex is overrun. Everyone is slain, or zombified. The last Gate of Hell remains open, manned and guarded by a Gatekeeper – a powerful, enormous and ancient demon that has the power to open Dimensional Gates and control or protect them. The government, frantic that the Quantum Accelerator will be destroyed or used against humanity, orders all marines to the site at once. The player, the nameless space marine, was on leave at the beach. He was also closest to the site and gets there first. There he discovers that there is much demonic activity (howling, chanting, machine sounds) within the complex – the Gatekeeper is obviously working on something, and his work would soon reach some awful climax. He also realizes that when the marines arrive, they would not be able to penetrate the heavily infested complex, despite the firepower and support they will have. The marine decides to enter the complex and stop the Gatekeeper alone.

ZDoom: ZDoom is a port of the official Doom source code targeted at Microsoft Windows and Linux. It is one of the most advanced and popular Doom ports, supporting Boom editing extensions, plus all the extensions made by the HeXen engine, as well as adding a multitude of new features not found in the original Doom. In addition, it supports Heretic, Hexen, and Strife.
